Arctic circle

The Arctic Circle offers dramatic contrasts, where icy landscapes meet vibrant wildlife. Snow-covered mountains and glaciers provide a backdrop for life to thrive in extreme conditions. Iceland with its endless lava landscapes, rough coastlines and wild rivers where I found Red-throated Loons, Barrow’s Goldeneyes, Whimbrels, Red-necked Phalaropes and Slavonian Grebes. Spitsbergen my first real nature photography trip away from The Netherlands, with its huge mountains and specialized wildlife, such as King Eider, Little Auk, Long-tailed Duck and Purple Sandpiper. I’ll always remember spending three days next to an Arctic fox den in Ny-Ålesund Spitsbergen, watching the parents care for their cubs and the cubs playing, fighting and sleeping right in front of me.
