Madagascar
Madagascar is a land of striking contrasts, offering both the most immersive biodiversity experience I have ever had (with beautiful endemic species such as Lemurs, Ground Rollers and Chameleons everywhere) and at the same time a stark reminder of the huge challenges facing our planet (human impacts seemed all around with wildfires, desertification, slash and burn, charcoal production and monoculture eucalyptus forests affecting the country at enormous scales). My traveling buddy and me made the most comprehensive list of biodiversity we wanted to see let alone photograph and ended up getting pictures of all the target species that were on the list. “Thanks, Bart, for sharing this amazing experience with me on your lifelong dream trip.”
